Seven Technical Requirements for Basic Skid-Mounted Gas Station Equipment

Release Date: February 27, 2026

Skid-mounted gas stations, as we all know, are refueling and oil storage facilities composed of many components. They adhere to very strict standards, both technically and in terms of safety requirements. In addition to the overall technical requirements, each component has its own specific technical specifications. Today, we will explain the technical requirements for the basic components of a skid-mounted gas station.

1. As a flammable and combustible medium-distribution equipment used on the ground, skid-mounted gas station equipment requires fireproof and explosion-proof performance. Since this type of equipment is a complete product supplied by the vendor, it must undergo testing and certification by relevant national agencies according to national regulations.

2. The oil tanks of skid-mounted gas station equipment are located on the ground, and their fire resistance is not as good as that of underground oil tanks. Therefore, to ensure safety, this clause proposes special safety measures for the oil tanks of skid-mounted refueling units that are not generally required for underground oil tanks.

3. Because the oil tanks of skid-mounted gas station equipment are located on the ground, they may be exposed to heat from surrounding fires. This clause specifies the fire resistance requirements for the oil tanks of skid-mounted refueling units.

4. A leak detection device must be installed at the bottom between the two tank walls of a double-walled oil tank to ensure timely detection of leaks.

5. The unloading method for skid-mounted refueling units differs from that of underground tanks, making them prone to oil splashing during unloading. Therefore, skid-mounted refueling units should be equipped with containers to collect leaked oil during unloading.

6. A lower-level oil inlet increases the risk of spills. Therefore, a "top-level oil inlet" method is required. However, a top-level oil inlet is inconvenient to operate. Placing the inlet pipe connector at the bottom, with its highest point above the tank's highest liquid level, achieves the same spill prevention effect as a top-level inlet method.

7. This provision primarily aims to prevent oil splashing from generating static electricity, sparks, and potential fires.

The above is an introduction to the technical requirements and specifications for basic skid-mounted refueling station equipment. We hope this information will be helpful in understanding basic skid-mounted refueling station equipment in the future.
